Recently, Colibri New Energy's "Laser Welding System" won the "2021 Technology Award" at the 2021 GGII Annual Conference and GG Golden Globe Award Ceremony.

In this award-winning "laser welding system," Colibri utilizes an integrated controller to integrate multiple technologies and address the problems in welding.


Integrated multi-compatible laser control system - high-speed response


The system utilizes the integrated control method of laser motion, which can reduce the interaction time between controllers (PPM increased from 15 to 24) through laser energy control (PSO), high-speed motion control, visual control, etc. It combines with the whole welding process detection system, which can obtain the real-time data like depth of fusion and weld width. The welding speed is fast with high efficiency and excellent consistency is good, thereby enhancing the product quality and yield.



To address the problems of weld penetration and fusion accumulation at the arc of the power battery cell top cover, Colibri New Energy Laser Welding System utilizes the new position-synchronized laser energy control technology, which features 2D/3D weld defect detection function. It also applies the self-learning trajectory planning algorithm, which is characterized by the visual auto-focus function, and can shorten the commissioning time.

Innovative welding mode notably improves the speed - long cell welding

It innovates the welding mode of welding head XY axis interpolation + fixed product welding, and utilizes the welding head + product multi-axis linkage, remarkably enhancing the welding speed, with the welding speed reaching 400mm/s;



Welding quality visual inspection technology increases yield

Through the self-developed visual algorithm, advanced laser coaxial and paraxial location technique, it combines with mainstream laser displacement sensors and laser welding real-time monitoring system, thereby quickly and precisely positioning before welding, monitoring welding temperature, power, and weld deviation and defective welding of connection online. It can also automatically detect and review the 2D/3D defect after welding. During the whole welding process, it adopts the quality closed-loop control that is fully transparent and traceable, which can reduce rework and increase the yield from 98% to 99.8%.
